The Antinori winery only opened in 2012, but thanks to its innovative design it is now one of the favorite spots for lovers of quality wine who travel to Tuscany from all over the world.
Built by a well known Florentine architectural studio, which aimed for a low impact on the environment, it is made with natural materials that harmoniously fit with the surroundings in every season. It represents a perfect example of how modern architecture can blend surprisingly well with the Italian landscape, so much so that it can hardly be seen from the road.
The building, for the most part underground, recalls the original way of building wine cellars and conserves, in this manner, original traditions.
The Antinori family has been in the wine industry for 26 generations. It was in 1385 when Giovanni Di Pietro Antinori started this activity. This winery is the latest and most innovative step in the family’s activity.
The visit to the Antinori Winery
The visit to the Antinori winery lasts approximately 2 hours. You will experience at 360° the wine process and the history of the Antinori family. After a short visit to the museum, you will enter the wine cellars where the guide will explain the attractive process of wine making. There is also an explanation for the making of vin santo (sweet wine that is usually accompanied by Cantuccini).
The cherry on the cake comes at the end when you will be given an opportunity to taste at least 3 different types of wine.
The location also offers a delicious restaurant with a sophisticated menu and, of course, a great selection of wine.
